Fourth Death 〰 [Video]

[The screen whirls into focus, showing Tatsumi with a bright smile and sunglasses on, despite the bandage tape across his nose]

Ya! Who is up for a talent show? Kotomi-chan and I thought it'd be a fun to see all the sort of things everyone is capable of.

Is there anyone in charge of the High School? I noticed the auditorium could use some fixing up. I'd be more than happy to help with that if it means we can host a talent show there!

In fact, I found some things that-

[His smile drops into a surprise, as he looks around a the empty table-top before him.]

What happened to all the stuff?

What stuff..?

[Tatsumi sighs before he turns to face Kotomi, who is standing behind him]

All the stuff we found while making the map.

[Kotomi just returns a blank gaze, tilting her head slightly sideways as if she has no idea what he's talking about.]

... Stuff?

[The taller of the two wilts, his strange hair tips seeming to droop ever so slightly]

You know, the snacks and soups and mugs and...things. Where did they go? You were carrying them a moment ago.

[There's that same blank stare for a few moments, her gaze shifting from Tatsumi to her hands (perhaps to make sure they're really empty) and then behind her.]

...

Huh. I wonder where they went off to...

[There is a huff and the feed ends as Tatsumi turns it off before anything else is broadcast]

Maybe it happened when we weren't looking for a moment.

[ Kotomi actually has no idea where they went through, but since she sees Tatsumi looking on the map she'll just rely on him. She's still staring around to try if she can find any of the things they gathered earlier. She is actually wandering a little bit away from Tatsumi because of it but doesn't notice as usual. ]

Even if that did happen, we know where they are.

[Tatsumi stops, hearing something aside from the wondering girl, looking around.]

We should hurry up and find them, though.. Someone else might find them and take them.

[ Kotomi is, of course, as oblivious as ever to everything and still looking for the things. She even crouches down now to look around closer to the ground, as if that would help anything. ]

[Tatsumi sprints over to Kotomi's side right after she kneels down, not wasting a second of breath to even shout her name. He steps in front of her one foot and kicks his boot into the air, blocking the pounce of a odd looking creature.

He then picks up Kotomi as if she weighed nothing and hurries off with her before the wolf shakes it's head back into focus]

[ Kotomi doesn't notice the creature until the moment Tatsumi jumps in and grabs her, and even then it takes her mind a few seconds to progress what happened.

But when her brain finally catches up she lets out a soft whimper. Of course, Youhei had told her that there were monsters out there and that they had to be careful, but the thought hadn't exactly crossed her mind again this quickly and it surprised her. ] W.. what..?

[Kotomi's whine and question went unattended as Tatsumi places her down, into an entrance way of an abandoned building. He turns back to face the angered beast. There isn't anything for him to use as a weapon. So, he waits for the monster to attack head on, punching it downwards into the concrete. It pulls out from under Tatsumi's fist and snaps at him. The werewolf back steps to kick at the creature again only to have his booth grabbed by teeth and pulled instead.]

[ All Kotomi can pretty much do is watch the entire fight-- she just sits there frozen (although this time it's out of fear rather than just being too busy dreaming off into her own world). And even though the fight so far showed her that Tatsumi was strong, but that monster seemed so strong and scary too. And what if he didn't make it, what if he..

She wants to move and help and do something - even though she couldn't do anything in the first place - but the fear paralyzes her and she can only sit there with a shocked look on her face. ]

[Tatsumi is pulled, bringing him to fall onto his bottom and back, feeling the twist in his leg a the "wolf" shakes it about. He manages to kick it upside it's head and frees his foot. In a split moment, he grabs the beast's head, as if he had no fear at all. Tatsumi twists it sharply. If only he was as strong as he should have been, the monster's neck would have snapped. Instead, the force of the twist causes it to flop over, snarling and scrambling to get back up.

It's brutal the amount of times Tatsumi beats the wolf over the head with his bare fists. After an excessive round of punches, He shoots up into the air, only to bring his boot down to crush the wolf's head. He remains standing, catching his breath. He was hating having a microchip more and more. Tatsumi looks down at his bloody hands and realizes he busted those up pretty good. THey're even shaking but that could be from the adrenaline rush too.

Then, his attention turns to Kotomi. He is smiling, quite pleased with himself.]

You alright?

[ It's a good thing that Kotomi is too busy being nearly numb from the whole situation, since it keeps her from seeing just exactly how brutally Tatsumi is taking the monster down. She does, however, notice a bit of it and it's quite unlike the sort of fighting she had expected out of him. And somehow, even though the creature is dead she still feels sort of scared.

Kotomi is shaking and shivering all over from the encounter and frankly even looks like she's about to start crying. After a moment she manages to nod weakly. ]

I'm.. not hurt..

[Tatsumi kills his smile, seeing the look on Kotomi's face. He really didn't want to upset her more. He Wipes his hands on the sides of his jumper, feeling the stinging pain from the broken skin.

Walking over, he motions her to come hither.]

Good. Let's just forget the stuff and head back, okay?

O.. of course..

[ She somehow manages to get up and walk a few steps so that she's closer to Tatsumi again, although it's rather slowly. She's still shaking a little bit, not to mention she's not lifting her gaze from the ground. ]

Um.. Are you a-alright, too..?

Nothing I can't handle.

[He waits for her to move. It feels like forever, though. Looking her over, it's obvious Kotomi can't handle real fighting.]

Do you feel well enough to walk on your own or... should I carry you?

[ She shakes her head, a little bit more quickly than her usual reactions. ] I'll be fine.. Don't worry.

[ It are times like these that make her long back to her safe home, her safe library, her safe garden. And to Tomoya, who took her by the hand and led her out of her solitary house and now disappeared once again and left her alone in this big scary world.

She finally dares to lift her face again to look at Tatsumi. ]

Um.. Thank you.. for saving me.

Okay.

[He walks back with her, as fast as she'll go.]

Ya! You're welcome.

I'm used to stuff like this.

[ She isn't exactly up to full speed yet, but at least she's trying to come as close to her regular speed as much as she can. ]

Are you saying that this kind of thing happens a lot to you..?

[Tatsumi sighs, not sure why he said such a thing in passing. So, he takes a step or two of time before responding]

Sort-of. Is it really that surprising? Isn't there dangerous animals where you're from, Kotomi-chan?

[ It's not like Kotomi notices the slight pause anyway. ]

There are, but they're usually found in unpopulated areas like forests or deserts. Usually far away from hone..

Unpopulated...

Well, we are in a strange place, far from our homes.

But, like I said, don't worry! I can handle things pretty well. It was one scary thing... [That was sooo fun to beat the life out of]

Think you can bandage my hands when we're inside?

[ You are so lucky to have found the most oblivious person that ever existed, Tatsumi. She sort of missed the part where you were super happy about beating the crap out of the monster. ]

Yes, you're pretty strong. I'm sorry, I can't fight like you..

[ She nods. ] Do they.. hurt a lot?

[Oh, he'll realize in time how 'lucky' he is]

Well, everyone has their own style of fighting... but you looked pretty upset. It was a good thing we didn't split up.

Ha ha! Ya, just a little. It's nothing compared to my nose.

I.. was scared.. I've never seen a real monster before, even here.

I'll try to take care of them. As a thank you.

Ya? [That explains a lot]

Good, it'll be hard to work on them, since they're my hands. Do you have stuff or should we stop by where I'm staying?

I don't think I have it.. Would it be okay to go to where you're staying first..?

Ya! I'll lead the way...

[And he does, opening the doors for her along the way, despite his scratched up hands]

It's just Toku-kun and I, but I can't imagine why he'd mind us borrowing the first aid kit.

[ By now she has for the biggest part regained her regular attitude instead of the tense mood she had been in just now. ]
