Nineteenth Coffin 〰 [Video]

[The video turns on to a dimly lit subway station. Tatsumi was just about to head back to the work site along the tracks when something catches his attention. Smiling, he puts the communicator down on a bench and proceeds to walks over to a blond haired ghost in an orange shirt.]

Hey, Tohru-chan~! I haven't see ya in a while!!

[From his back pocket, Tatsumi pulls out a game boy color and dangles it in front of the ghost's face.]

Ya want your game boy back?

[Even though Tohru's ghost is unaffected by the taunt, the werewolf snaps the device back as if he had.]

Too bad!

[Tatsumi laughs, walking off screen for a moment, waving at someone.]

Ya! Yuuki-chan! Long time no see!!

[The communicator abruptly turns off. Perhaps Bored with Tatsumi playing with ghosts.]

[ Sunako here is having a ball. beside her is Megumi and Kaori, and she's just skipping around them and giving them her own little taunts. ]

Hm... it's been so long, Megumi. I didn't know you had a friend, she looks so nice!

[ she giggles and turns to the communicator. ] It's so nice to see everyone from home, isn't it?

Ya! Megumi-kun and her snoopy friend!

[He waves even though it's only through the device]

It is! [hair wiggle] I wonder if Yoshie and everyone else are here somewhere too!!

It would be so nice to have them around again, wouldn't it? We would all be together in one place again!

[ she take's Megumi's lifeless hand and does a little twirl. before she can get a bite in, she skips away. ]

[Tatsumi laughs at the twirl and skip]

It would be! I didn't realize how much I missed them until now!

[Is he BSing? Who can say but at least he sounds genuine.]

[ hey, she loves having fun like this. ]

I can't say that I have. But having some familiar company would be quite convenient in our situation.

[ after knowing him for so long, she can read him pretty well. even so, it amuses (and almost reassures) her to know that there's another side to that smile, just like her's. ]

And who knows? Maybe we'll get some familiar company. This place seems to switch everyone around now and then. Kind of wonder why I've been here for as long as I have, ya?

[He stops and gives Natsuno a look. The ghost seems to be staring right at Tatsumi, but really it's through him. However when their eyes "meet" the werewolf's eyelids sink into a glare.]

Oh, that would be so wonderful... that is, as long as the pests stay away. It would be just like Sotoba.

[ yeah, she's still a little bitter about the not!mom killing. ]

How long has it been for you, anyway? When I went back to Sotoba, you were right there. Odd, isn't it?

Don't worry.We'll have fun with them either way~!

I got here about a week before Christmas, so almost a year?

Ya,I'm told that's how it goes.

A year... that really is a long time to be in a place like this. But it can't be helped. [ she shrugs. ]

[Carrying some things that he can use to patch up the holes in the tunnel.]

It's good to see old friends.

[He tilts his head slightly, raising an eyebrow]

Ya sure ya can carry all that?

It is only a few pipes, aru. I did help build the Great Wall, so a tunnel like this is nothing!

[Though his back has been bothering him the past few hours, but he refuses to give into the pain so quickly. He was not weak and he definitely wasn't old!]

So... you know the people that these bodies represent? [He gestures with his head at the said bodies.]

With a place like this, I wonder how long this tunnel is gonna last once we fix it up.

[Tatsumi looks over at the two ghosts, who are talking about mundane things... Or, rather, Tohru is talking and Natsuno is just there, by the looks of things.]

Ya, some kids from Sotoba, a village we moved to a few months ago-- well, before I came here and stuff.

Who knows. Spero is all the way on the other side of the lake, so I am guessing that it will take quite awhile, aru. I am sure we can all handle it though.

[China also looks over at the bodies.]

Why are there ghosts appearing all of a sudden now? First the hallucinations, then the bodies, then the fog, and now this?

It better hold up long enough for me to get Sunako out of there!

Who even knows? This place is weird, but kind of cool, too.

Oh, yes, that is right. Sunako is back, aru. I hope she is doing well.

I do not think this is "cool" at all, especially since they can talk back to you, aru.

Ya, me too. I should stop foolin' around here and get back to workin' on the train. She's waiting.

I meant Fortuna in general, but whatever. It's the only place I've been to that such weird crap happens on a normal basis.

I just want to finish clearing this subway so I can get out of here, aru. I miss the sunlight.

I have lived for some time and have seen many strange things, especially these past few years, but I do not believe I have never experienced anything such as the rising dead, aru. People talked about it in the past, but...

Ha ha! I guess I'm used to workin' at night so it's cool with me, except the smells.

Ya, because people raising from the dead is just weird.

[For a moment a rather insane smirk pushes his cheeks up but then it's gone within a blink of an eye, as if it were never there.]

[China catches that smile, but he makes no mention of it and brushes it off.]

So your sense of smell differs from the humans?

I used to believe in things like that, but my boss enlightened me and helped me see that those are not real, aru. [Though he didn't say it, he still believed in superstition, despite what his boss told him. Being superstitious was simply part of his personality.]

Ya! I've got a real sensitive nose. Can smell stuff normal people usually can't. [He chuckles, more to himself] Can ya imagine how offended someone gets when I say I can smell them from a yard or two away? They just don't get it. it's kind of funny, some times.

Ya know what they say, ya? Don't believe everything you're told!!

[Smirking again but way more normal looking this time]

Well, I know I take good care of my health, so that is all that would matter to me, aru. [By which he means that he bathes regularly.]

There are so many things that we are told, though. We have to discern the truth from the lies, aru.

Ya sayin' ya wouldn't get offended if someone said they could smell ya from a few yards? That's pretty cool, kind of.

[Depends on if it was the same case or if China rolled in mud.]

Ya! A grain of salt and all that.

So, you're telling me... if ya don't believe in the undead, they don't exist? I'm kind of confused.

[He isn't sure if it'll be the same for China as it is Japan, but tatsui is POSITVE there are shiki in Japan but hasn't asked japan upfront if he's aware of the shiki outbreak. So, asking China if he is aware of his own undead or not might me useful information.]

It would depend. If they made a false accusation, then I would be angered because I take very good care of my health, aru! [He pouts a bit.]

I used to believe in such things, but now I have been convinced by my boss. [Big fat lie. He still believes in the undead and other superstitious things, but he covers it up to please his boss.]

[ Ange idly eyes the feed for a few moments, before raising an eyebrow. ]

I doubt taunting them is going to do much. They don't exactly seem.. alive, do they?

Nah, but maybe... just maybe their spirits can sense I'm here.

[ Well, Ange doesn't know Tatsumi too well, even from what she remembers, so she isn't really surprised by the derp. ]

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't. I mean, just look at their reaction, or rather the complete lack thereof.

They'll get the idea.... eventually. Then again, I've got to get back to workin' on fixin' this dump up.

That's right, surely there are more constructive things to be done other than entertaining you with those things.

... Although I guess some people would just distract themselves with that and not get any work done instead.

Well, I'll be getting back to work soon. I'm just on a small break.

Ha ha! Even this would get boring after a while, ya? But ya never know in this place. Maybe they'll do somethin' that might actually affect me!

I wouldn't exactly call this place boring. They work so very hard to keep coming up with new ideas on how to bother us the most, after all. [ said in a rather bitter tone. ]

But you shouldn't say that last part too loudly. You might jinx it.

That really seems like it's a waste of time when they're completely unaware of you.

Would sitting down be any less of a waste?

I'm just takin' a small break. I couldn't pass up the chance to 'hang out' with some familiar faces.

Can't help but wonder if this means they'll be comin' back or not.

Is it really hanging out if they are completely unaware of you?
